Jennifer Sheehan, a graduate of The Juilliard School, was thrilled to make her Carnegie Hall debut this spring, performing as a special guest of Michael Feinstein. A recipient of The Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Julie Wilson Award for her interpretation of The Great American Songbook, she has performed for the last several years at Jazz at Lincoln Center, as part of the Foundation’s annual New York Cabaret Convention. She also has appeared in their concerts at The Palmer House in Chicago, The John Drew Theater in The Hampshires and at The National Arts Club in New York.
Last fall, at The Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York, she debuted her new cabaret show: “You Made Me Love You - A New Generation Captivated by The Great American Songbook Celebrates its 100th Birthday!”
Earlier this year, Ms. Sheehan finished her third season performing as one of six vocalists (and as Mrs. Claus!) in Radio City Music Hall’s “Christmas Spectacular.” And she appeared at The York Theatre in New York, playing “The Girl from Ipanema” in a staged reading of “In Love With Jobim,” alongside Broadway veterans Ron Bohmer (Ragtime), Tim Jerome (Tarzan), and Nick Spangler (The Fantasticks). Other past performing highlights include singing with Andrea Marcovicci and Klea Blackhurst in a tribute to Leo Robin at the New York 92nd Street Y Lyrics and Lyricists series; performing in Gershwin’s “Of Thee I Sing” at the Bard Summerscape Festival in New York; and performing as a featured guest artist for three seasons with Boston Musical Theater.
Ms. Sheehan has presented shows at The Sheldon Concert Hall and The Cabaret at Savor in her hometown of St. Louis. Other cabaret performances have been presented at The Gardenia in Los Angeles and Danny’s Skylight Room in New York, as well as at fundraisers and private parties. While attending Juilliard, she played Pamina in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” among other roles, and was selected to perform in master classes with Barbara Cook and Victoria Clark.
Ms. Sheehan won first place at the national Glenn Miller Festival vocal competition and was one of four musical theatre finalists in The National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts annual talent competition. At age 14, Sheehan became a protégée of cabaret star Andrea Marcovicci, after performing for Marcovicci in a master class at The Grandel in St. Louis.
